Kino Pleme / Live Soundtrack

  1.

Live Soundtrack is a monthly film music / audio-visual event, incepted as a continuation of Kino pleme , defunct analog film lab, previously based in Inex Film in Belgrade, Serbia. Lab has produced several films on Super 8mm and 16mm and couple of a/v perfomances, while Live Soundtrack has become its regular program in 2014 and is still active and continuing to grow.

Live Soundtrack can be described with epithets of adventurous programming and spirit of re-discovery. Through screening rarely seen works of short experimental cinema and animation from all over the world, event has brought together musicans from electronic, ambient and electro-acoustic circuits, and established an atmosphere of synaesthetic happenings and synthesis of sounds in a manner which links it to the scoring of more forward looking works of cinema. Organised in nine countries so far (Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, Romania, Moldova, Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria, North Macedonia) it is on a continuous tour across Europe in 2023.

Permanent program manager / curator at the event is Marko Milićević, co-founder of the lab, a filmmaker, musician and music journalist. bio >>

Main music project of Live Soundtrack, which has graced its first five seasons is Old Soviet Dogs, whose members: Aleksandra Dačić, Miloš Dimitrijević, Jelena Dunić, Adrijan Vučković and Marko Milićević have also performed solo at various events and been a part of the organisational team during this era.  more about music projects >>

  3. The "golden era" of Live Soundtrack began when, in its third season, it has moved to Centre For Cultural Decontamination and became a part of their regular movie program, CZKD Cinema, curated by Aleksandra Sekulić. While not happening on a regular basis in CZKD, as in the formative years, Live Soundtrack continues to be a part of the program in the venue which is considered to be the audience favourite.

CZKD Cinema aims to conquer the space for film screenings that is not enslaved by the imperative of the self-sustainability of the culture industry machine, but evokes a specific tradition of viewing films and film-making that was nurtured by film clubs and film schools, which through this practice influenced the entire film culture, precisely through the relation of respect towards all participants and elements of the film process.

  6. After a break due to the covid crisis in 2020, and the irregular dynamic of the events since than, Live Soundtrack starts a new chapter of the event, in its mid seventh / eight season (2023), with an open call for silent film works via FilmFreeway platform, while striving to continue the tradition of its live events. Films will be screened in Belgrade and across Europe, in micro-movie theatres, at open-air events, guest-star Live Soundtrack events on experimental / animation film festivals, and as a part of the "Kinoskop" (Analog experimental film festival based in Belgrade).
